I’ve had the new Third Day album now since this past Tuesday. I gave it almost a week to let the new songs ’sink in’. You know, sometimes it’s hard when you’re so familiar with an artist’s music – it’s almost hard to take in new material. Almost as if, how could any of these new songs be better than what they already have? Well, these guys prove me wrong each and every time. This album is BIG. The music is big, the vocals, guitars, drums – it’s all really big sounding. Just like their drummer said in a video, ‘We’re the same team, we just have a new coach.’ And that coaching strategy has certainly shined in this new release.
I’ve got to say, that really all of the songs speak for themselves. They are all different and each song is refreshing to hear. This might be because Mac’s vocals sound better than ever, or because of the guest vocalists (Chris Daughtry, Lacey Mosley – singer for Flyleaf, and guest guitarist Robert Randolph who kills some steel guitar) – Third Day nails each song on this release. Not only are Mac’s vocals solid, so are the rest of the band and their instruments. Being a drummer, I was really impressed with the drums on this release. David really seemed to open up a bit more this time around doing some great fills and just sounded solid throughout.
Well, that’s my little review. And for your enjoyment you can watch them LIVE in the video below.

Sweet tight sound. I didn’t know what to expect with Brad gone. I suppose Mac will be playing electric on tour, too.
I was able to see them 2 days after Brad departed the band. They sounded awesome – big and full. Mark Lee does a great job on guitar as well as writing songs too.
Cool review… I agree about the songs speaking for themselves. Thanks for sharing your post…
I was glad to hear a drummer’s perspective on the CD. Great review.
